Facebook Terrorism? Ex-Marine arrested, 9-11 conspiracy posts ruled ‘terrorist in nature’

08/23/2012 UPDATE: HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT)  – A Chesterfield Marine will be released from a mental health facility after a judge ruled there wasn’t sufficient evidence of allegations made against him….

In court Thursday, the judge said that the petition was blank and didn’t list a single allegation against him. The judge said Raub suffered a “deprivation of his liberty” by being held without a clear claim.

The FBI, Secret Service and the Chesterfield Police ‘swarmed’ Brandon Raub, a former U.S. Marine and decorated veteran, before Raub was allegedly arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital. After posting on Facebook he has been locked up as a threat to US Interests. Raub believes 9/11 was an inside job and wrote about the coming ‘Revolution.’ An FBI agent reportedly claimed, ‘The threats that he was making were terrorist in nature.’

By Ms. Smith via on Sun, 08/19/12 – 2:18pm.

There are conspiracy theorists who believe 9/11 was an inside job. I don’t really follow that news, but can people be arrested after saying so online, exercising their First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech? On August 16, the FBI, Secret Service and the Chesterfield Police arrested a decorated former U.S. Marine for “airing his critical views of the U.S. government on Facebook.” Is there such a thing as Facebook terrorism?

(See Raub’s posts on Facebook or click here to see larger.) According to Salem-News, an FBI agent claimed, “The threats that he was making were terrorist in nature.”Brandon Raub is a decorated Iraq and Afghanistan War Vet

The Jeenyus Corner noted, “Brandon Raub is a former U.S. Marine, decorated combat veteran, and he founded the Richmond Liberty Movement, based in Virginia. Brandon was arrested by government officials last night over some ‘terroristic’ posts he made on Facebook. To be clear, he was arrested for speaking his mind about his opinions, which is supposed to be a constitutional right in our country. He is currently being ‘held’ at John Randolph Psychiatric hospital in Hopewell VA.” The site republished Raub’s ‘The Truth’ articlefrom November 2011 which began with “America has lost itself. We have lost who we truly are. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

On Facebook, Raub talked about the Illuminati, a shadow organization in which “some of the leaders were involved with the bombing of the twin towers” and the “great amount of evil perpetrated by the American Government.” He said people may think he was going crazy, but a “civil war,” the “Revolution” is coming. “I’m starting the Revolution. I’m done waiting.” On July 24, he said he was at a “great crossroads. As if a storm of destiny is about to pick me up and take me to fight a great battle.” On August 9 he talked about severing heads and told the generals he was coming for them. On August 13, he wrote, “Sharpen up my axe; I’m here to sever heads.” On August 14, Raub wrote, “The Revolution will come for me. Men will be at my door soon to pick me up to lead it.” On August 15, Raub wrote, “And they will say he said it to the NSA first.” To know all that was said, please read it for yourselfhere or on Facebook.

In this video, Raub’s mother says the authorities showed up “in a swarm” to arrest him before taking him to John Randolph Psychiatric Hospital. She said her son does not suffer from PTSD. Raub allegedly was arrested by Chesterfield Police after he “assaulted an officer and resisted arrest,” but “Chesterfield PD said Raub has not been charged with resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.” Here are links to many more videos regarding Raub. There are five articles written by Raub that were published on Don’t Tread on Me. Here, DeathRattleSports asked whether Raub was the NDAA‘s first victim.

Many times in the past, we’ve looked at ridiculous FBI or DHS you-might-be-a-domestic-terrorist-if lists which seem to indicate that otherwise innocent acts may flag you as potentially suspicious. Sadly, our nation’s veterans are potentially suspicious, according to some of these lists. To me, a terrorist is someone or a group who inflicts terror and is actually out to hurt us, the USA’s citizens or our critical infrastructure; terrorists who plot evil with intentions of killing people, blowing up or otherwise destroying things. However, I recently read about the Global Terrorism Database, which is “an open-source database with information on more than 98,000 terrorist attacks and terrorist events around the world from 1970 through 2010.” START is “tasked by the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate” and defines terrorism as “the threatened or actual use of illegal force and violence by a non-state actor to attain a political, economic, religious, or social goal through fear, coercion, or intimidation.”

To better understand this, it’s important to look at “Profiles of Perpetrators of Terrorism in the United States (PPT-US) Codebook” as well as “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970 to 2008” [PDF] by START (Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism). The report lists the categories of ideological motivation in terrorism as:

Extreme Right-Wing: groups that believe that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack and is either already lost or that the threat is imminent (for some the threat is from a specific ethnic, racial, or religious group), and believe in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism. Groups may also be fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation), anti-global, suspicious of centralized federal authority, reverent of individual liberty, and believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.

Extreme Left-Wing: groups that want to bring about change through violent revolution rather than through established political processes. This category also includes secular left-wing groups that rely heavily on terrorism to overthrow the capitalist system and either establish “a dictatorship of the proletariat” (Marxist-Leninists) or, much more rarely, a decentralized, non-hierarchical political system (anarchists).

Religious: groups that seek to smite the purported enemies of God and other evildoers, impose strict religious tenets or laws on society (fundamentalists), forcibly insert religion into the political sphere (e.g., those who seek to politicize religion, such as Christian Reconstructionists and Islamists), and/or bring about Armageddon (apocalyptic millenarian cults; 2010: 17). For example, Jewish Direct Action, Mormon extremist, Jamaat-al-Fuqra, and Covenant, Sword and the Arm of the Lord (CSA) are included in this category.

Ethno-Nationalist/Separatist: regionally concentrated groups with a history of organized political autonomy with their own state, traditional ruler, or regional government, who are committed to gaining or regaining political independence through any means and who have supported political movements for autonomy at some time since 1945.

Single Issue: groups or individuals that obsessively focus on very specific or narrowly-defined causes (e.g., anti-abortion, anti-Catholic, anti-nuclear, anti-Castro). This category includes groups from all sides of the political spectrum.

However, please note that the latest START report [PDF] from July states, “To be clear, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) does not classify individuals as terrorists or extremists based on ideological perspectives.” And “at no point has any START study defined persons ‘suspicious of centralized federal authority’ and ‘reverent of individual liberty’ as terrorists. Instead, we assigned ideological classifications only to groups that have already carried out completed or attempted terrorist attacks.”

If there were ever such a “revolution,” such as Raub supported, that caused riots like were seen in London, Public Intelligence previously posted the U.S. military’s plans for the “use of deadly force, detention and interrogation of U.S. Civilians” and alleged military plans to squash civil unrest in the USA. It might also be a good time to recall Social Media Monitoring on Gov’t Steroids: Anything might come back to bite you or the list of hot keywords monitored by DHS. Things are still unfolding in regards to Raub, but it is alarming if his constitutional right to free speech, his right to talk conspiracy theory smack, is considered potential terrorism.

Major General: Why Are Domestic Government Agencies Purchashing Enough Lethal Ammunition to Put 5 Rounds In Every American?

Preface: There might be an innocent explanation. But given recent trends, this is worrisome.

Retired Major General Jerry Curry wrote Friday:

The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirms that it is purchasing 174 thousand rounds of hollow point bullets to be delivered to 41 locations in major cities across the U.S.

Those against whom the hollow point bullets are to be used — those causing the civil unrest — must be American citizens; since the SSA has never been used overseas to help foreign countries maintain control of their citizens.

What would be the target of these 174, 000 rounds of hollow point bullets? It can’t simply be to control demonstrators or rioters. Hollow point bullets are so lethal that the Geneva Convention does not allow their use on the battle field in time of war. Hollow point bullets don’t just stop or hurt people, they penetrate the body, spread out, fragment and cause maximum damage to the body’s organs. Death often follows.

Potentially each hollow nose bullet represents a dead American. If so, why would the U.S. government want the SSA to kill 174,000 of our citizens, even during a time of civil unrest?

If this were only a one time order of ammunition, it could easily be dismissed. But there is a pattern here. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has ordered 46,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition. Notice that all of these purchases are for the lethal hollow nose bullets.  These bullets are not being purchased and stored for squirrel or coyote hunting. This is serious ammunition manufactured to be used for serious purposes.

In the war in Iraq, our military forces expended approximately 70 million rounds per year. In March DHS ordered 750 million rounds of hollow point ammunition. It then turned around and ordered an additional 750 million rounds of miscellaneous bullets including some that are capable of penetrating walls. This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen. Is this something we and the Congress should be concerned about? What’s the plan that requires so many dead Americans, even during times of civil unrest? Has Congress and the Administration vetted the plan in public.

All of these rounds of ammunition can only be used to kill American citizens, though there is enough ammunition being ordered to kill, in addition to every American citizen, also every Iranian, Syrian or Mexican. There is simply too much of it. And this much ammunition can’t be just for training, there aren’t that many weapons and “shooters” in the U.S. to fire it.

We have enough military forces to maintain law and order in the U.S. even during times of civil unrest.

This is a deadly serious business. I hope I’m wrong, but something smells rotten. And If the Congress isn’t going to do its duty and investigate this matter fully, the military will have to protect the Constitution, the nation, and our citizens.

Why are government agencies doing this?

Major General Curry asks a troubling questions:

We have local police, backed up by each state’s National Guard, backed up by the Department of Defense. So in addition to all these forces why does DHS need its own private army? Why do the SSA, NOAA and other government agencies need to create their own civilian security forces armed with hollow nose bullets?

This may sound like a conspiracy theory …

But remember that Senator Daniel Inouye said in 1987:

There exists a shadowy Government with its own Air Force, its own Navy, its own fundraising mechanism, and the ability to pursue its own ideas of national interest, free from all checks and balances, and free from the law itself.

The Federal Reserve – which is not exactly federal (and see this)- also has its own police force.  See this andthis.

Chalmers Johnson called the CIA the President’s private army.

And that’s nothing compared to JSOC.  As John Glaser wrote in February:

For the past decade, we’ve seen the rise of a secret, unaccountable U.S. military force … Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) is an unwieldy private army at the command of the President, and him only. And they conduct military and spy missions all over the world, never receiving formal congressional approval ….

“Without the knowledge of the American public,” wrote Nick Turse back in August, “a secret force within the U.S. military is undertaking operations in a majority of the world’s countries. This new Pentagon power elite is waging a global war whose size and scope has never been revealed.” According to a recent Congressional Research Service report, JSOC forces “reportedly conduct highly sensitive combat and supporting operations against terrorists on a world-wide basis.” As the New York Times this week reported:

The Special Operations Command now numbers just under 66,000 people — including both military personnel and Defense Department civilians — a doubling since 2001. Its budget has reached $10.5 billion, up from $4.2 billion in 2001 (after adjusting for inflation).Over the past decade, Special Operations Command personnel have been deployed for combat operations, exercises, training and other liaison missions in more than 70 countries. Since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, Special Operations Command sustained overseas deployments of more than 12,000 troops a day, with four-fifths committed to the broader Middle East.

JSOC operates outside the confines of the traditional military and even beyond what the CIA is able to do.

But it goes well beyond the war zones. In concert with the Executive’s new claims on extra-judicial assassinations via drone strikes, even if the target is an American citizen, JSOC goes around the world murdering suspects without the oversight of a judge or, god forbid, granting those unfortunate souls the right to defend themselves in court against secret, evidence-less government decrees about their guilt. As Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh said at a speaking event in 2009:

Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on.***

Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us….

[Marc Ambinder told Wired]:

There are legal restrictions on what the CIA can do in terms of covert operations. There has to be a finding, the president has to notify at least the “Gang of Eight” [leaders of the intelligence oversight committees] in Congress. JSOC doesn’t have to do any of that. There is very little accountability for their actions. What’s weird is that many in congress who’d be very sensitive to CIA operations almost treat JSOC as an entity that doesn’t have to submit to oversight. It’s almost like this is the president’s private army, we’ll let the president do what he needs to do.

An End-Run Around the Constitution?

Remember, we’ve gone from a nation of laws to a nation of powerful men making laws in secret.  A nation where Congressional leaders themselves    aren’t even allow to see the laws, or to learn about covert programs. A nation where Congressmen are threatened with martial law if they don’t approve radical programs.

National security powers are being used to help big business, to the detriment of the American people.

Veterans returning from the front lines are labeled “potential terrorists”, to the horror of both theRepublican and Democratic leadership.

This is not surprising, given that tyrannical regimes always crumble when the footsoldiers refuse to carry out draconian measures.

Indeed, active duty military personnel are big Ron Paul supporters.  And see this.  Because liking Ron Paul – as well as liking liberty or the Founding Fathers – may get one branded as a potential terrorist these days, there may be some friction between active military folks and the government as well.

We’ve been in a continuous state of National Emergency for 11 years.  The Constitution has so thoroughly been shredded that it – literally – unclear whether we are still living in a constitutional form of government.

Because military folks are sworn to defend the Constitution, many still would not allow the imposition of overt, full-scale fascism without a fight.  See this and this.

As such, Major General Curry’s speculation is chilling, indeed:

Is the purpose [of the lethal ammunition purchases] to kill 174,000 of the nation’s military and replace them with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) special security forces, forces loyal to the Administration, not to the Constitution?

Source: All Gov.

The largest corporations in the U.S., consisting of oil, retail, banking and technology giants, paid an average of only 9% of their earnings in income taxes to the Internal Revenue Servicelast year.
According to the tax code, companies are supposed to pay 35% income tax. But NerdWalletdetermined that the top 10 came nowhere near that.
Exxon Mobil, the country’s biggest business, made more than $73 billion in 2011, but paid only $1.5 billion to the IRS.
The second largest company, Chevron, paid $1.9 billion in taxes after collecting $47.6 billion in revenue.
No. 3 on the list, Apple, made $34.2 billion. It paid $3.9 billion to the IRS.
These were followed by:

Emerging Sunspot Releases Mid-level Solar Flare

SDO recorded this view of an M5.6 class solar flare at 9:01pm EDT on August 17, 2012.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captured this image of an M-class flare on August 17, 2012, at 9:01 PM EDT. The flare, seen on the left (or east) side of the sun from an active region that has not yet been named, and is just rotating into view. The image is colorized in teal, which is typical for showing light in the 131 Angstrom wavelength — a wavelength particularly good for viewing solar flares. Credit: NASA/SDO

On August 17, the sun emitted a mid-level flare, peaking at 9:02 PM EDT. Solar flares are gigantic bursts of radiation that cannot pass through Earth’s atmosphere to harm humans on the ground, however when strong enough they can disrupt GPS and communications signals.

The flare is classified as an M5.6 class flare. M-class flares can cause brief radio blackouts at the poles and minor radiation storms that might endanger astronauts.

Army: “OPSEC” Political Group Violating OPSEC Protocols : Spin spin spin

…by  Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

A group calling themselves “OPSEC” has accused President Obama of violating “operational security” tied to the theoretical operation involving the claimed murder of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

This week, we learned that top Pentagon officials are shocked at some of the information being leaked by the “OPSEC” group, their claim that security clearances of some have been violated and that others are blatantly lying.

A senior Army official, off the record is quoted:

Operational Security

“Duff, the generals are pissed as hell about this.  They are claiming they are “OPSEC” but they don’t know the first thing about it.  They are actually giving out names, asking for donations, violating every tenet of special operations groups.

Also, they are claiming to be Special Forces without proof.  Now I see them backing off from that.

I have my own questions about operations, which, because of OPSEC I am unable to discuss in detail but they have nothing to do with the wild fabrications and political grandstanding this group is doing.”

According to, the group now claims to be “CIA” and “special forces.”  Note the small “s” and “f” in “special” and “forces.”  Of course, there is NO list of CIA agents, nor is there such a thing as “special forces.”  Here is the quote:

“A group of former CIA spies and U.S. special forces troops on Tuesday launched a political attack on President Barack Obama.”

Last time someone called Special Forces “troops” they ended up looking for their teeth.  As for the CIA claim, that one has me rolling on the floor.  Next thing I expect is for them to say they represent the “Union of Fairies and Leprechauns.”

I have political issues with Romney and, frankly all of Washington.  Election after election, we live in a “least of evils” world though more and more suspect Obama may actually intend well but has been constrained by the massive influx of corporate cash flowing into Washington to defeat his economic initiatives.

Washington, under the Supreme Court’s Citizen’s United ruling, has become the whorehouse of all time.  Wall Street has been joined by the drug cartels and has bought everything that moves in Washington, starting with Romney, the puppet of Sheldon Adelson.

Now we have another “swift boat” group, claiming to be “special forces” and asking for cash.

In doing so, they are openly attacking, not only the Commander in Chief but the leadership of the military and intelligence services while taking money from gambling and drug interests.

My first point is that they are not entirely wrong, bin Laden died in 2001.  Another point is that the Delta Force stories told about bin Laden and his Tora Bora fleet of white GMC Yukons was predicated on the lies told byRumsfeld.

Rummy claimed “Al Kayduh” had massive bases all over Afghanistan, huge underground “fortresses.”  This was an outrageous lie, nothing has been found in 12 years.

Here, watch where the story began and why the phony “Delta Force” make up the Tora Bora fairy tale…all the vehicles parked in huge underground bases that never existed:

The Magic “bin Laden” Underground Parking Lot…Never Found

YouTube – Veterans Today –

This is where the wild story of bin Laden began, all his vehicles parked in Rumsfeld‘s imaginary bases, the whole thing a total lie.  Bin Laden died at Tora Bora, while still “on the books” of the CIA, kidney failure, no portable dialysis machine recovered, no underground base, no monorails or bad guys in powder blue jump suits.

Time enough has passed, here is a piece of OPSEC that every member of US special ops unit knows:

There had been no word from Osama bin Laden since December 2001 and that the numerous videos and audio tapes were all counterfeit, adequate proof to anyone that the war in Afghanistan was being fought illegally.

However, releasing that fact would be what a free and independent patriot would do, not the act of a strutting paid “parrot.”  Please check for actual public confirmations from both Secretary of Defense Gates and CIA Director Panetta.

Rumsfeld had grown up on James Bond movies and bin Laden, the CIA asset, was sold to America as “AuricGoldfinger” or “Doctor Evil.”

Because of “compartmentalized security,” none of those claiming to be “OPSEC” would or could understand what the truth is.  It certainly has nothing to do with their claims.  I have my own questions and have decades more experience.

There are things wrong, the idea of murdering a valuable intelligence asset, even though he had been dead for ten years. Then there is the imaginary burial at sea claimed based on non existent Muslim traditions.  More childish lies.

Then 38 SEALS packed like sardines into a National Guard CH-47, a violation of every protocol, gets shot down?

That one doesn’t fly.  They were going to rescue Rangers?  Rangers rescue Rangers.  Even as a Marine, we know that Rangers, on the ground, are an easy match for SEALS or anyone else.  None of this story holds water and if Obama or someone is to be questioned, question people about real problems, not the ones Sheldon Adelson the gambling kingpin of China pays you to ask about.

This is a good theory but what have they done about the huge drug dealing and Israeli espionage?

Yes, there is a smell over the bin Laden issue. Yes, there is a smell over “OPSEC” and their billboards and millions spent on advertising, money they are unable to show the origin of.

Yes, there is also a smell over security violations by those claiming to be “Tier One” operatives.

I leak as much as anyone alive but NOTHING operational ever goes out on VT.  We don’t give up sources, we don’t compromise the lives of those in the field.

Freedom of speech is one thing.  Taking money to lie is something else.  Compromising security for money is worse.

My other personal view is clear.  Special operations personnel are totally aware of $80 billion in heroin trafficking using American planes and bases in Afghanistan,Kosovo and Belgium.  ”OPSEC” is staying silent on this and bitching about Obama?

Could it be because their candidate, Romney, has all those overseas bank accounts to launder that cash?

Romney claims he paid 13% taxes the last few years but refuses to give out his returns.  We don’t want his returns, we want to know the origin of all money in the foreign accounts.  That income is NOT taxed and when mixed with the claimed “13% could lower his actual tax rate to under 1%.

I am not the one with thousands of secret bank accounts.  Time for “OPSEC” to ask about drugs and money laundering, things they know about personally, the only secrets they seem willing to keep.

The Social Security Administration Is Buying 174,000 rounds of Ammo!?

Wasteful spending, hoarding to corner the market, or do we have some doomsday preppers working up in Washington? …..

First the DHS needed 450 million rounds of ammunition, then the NOAA requested 46,000 rounds, now we’ve discovered an online request at FBO.Gov calling for 174,000 rounds of ammunition for the Social Security Administration (SSA).

The request actually calls for 174K .357 hollow points that arguably have as much stopping power as any bullet out there, and hollow points do as much damage to soft tissue as possible on top of that.
